April Mueller is a creative visionary who connects dots, uncovers potential, and creates beauty. She currently leads a diverse team of research, development, brand, and marketing geniuses to create award winning personal fragrance products as Vice President of ILLUME and GOOD CHEMISTRY.
I grew up on a 500 acre wildflower farm in the drift less region of southern Minnesota. My parents taught me to challenge the ordinary and to strive toward new, different, and better ways of living. Growing up with endless opportunities to explore the natural world around me fostered a life rooted in design and surrounded in beauty. I believe in leading with strong conviction backed by the trust in lifelong instincts for exceptional form and function. I am interested in building experiences that carve space where there once wasn’t. In guiding talent beyond their perceived lanes and limits. And in making meaningful work that invents, inspires, and expands upon the definition of beauty.
Coaching and Creating
My creative career began in a boutique design studio and currently resides with ILLUME, a fully vertical fragrance developer, where I continually push the boundaries of my capabilities. As the leader of the creative team, I’ve grown the company portfolio from a small private label manufacturer into a global player in the category, with brand collaborations including Anthropologie, Madewell, West Elm, and Target. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is guiding a team of extraordinary talent where we succeed and fail as one.
